Nursery vouchers schemes save money because employees are not liable for income tax and national insurance contributions on any amounts (currently up to £55 per week), paid by their employers for Childcare Vouchers. Employers are also exempt from their NI contributions so they benefit too. Employees accept a reduction in their salary while the company purchases vouchers which nurseries accept as part payment for the employee's charges.
Although any company can issue childcare vouchers most employees reach agreement with one of the schemes widely accepted by nurseries.
