Government Funding for
Early Education Funding (EEF) from the government can be provided by private, independent and voluntary providers as well as schools and some childminders.
Here at the Sandcastle Nursery we offer the EEF as part of your normal childcare requirements and if spaces allow, some fully funded sessions with no additional charges are sometimes available. All children from 9 months old until 2 at the start of the school term following their relevant birthday, and with eligible working parents are entitled to up to 30 hours per week of Free Entitlement for 38 weeks per year. In our case this entitlement is stretched over 51 weeks and is therefore for approx. 22 hours per week. All 2, 3 and 4 year olds, of eligible working parents are similarly entitled to 22 hours of free childcare. For 3 and 4 year olds with parents not eligible children may still receive the Universal entitlement of 15 hours per week, in our case stretched to 11 hours. Where spaces are available this Free Entitlement may be used by booking half day (5 hour sessions) with no extra charges. Again, where spaces are available 22 hours a week could be used over four half days sessions of 5 hours each, thus using 20 hours of their entitlement. Such spaces will be completely free of charge. Nurseries are permitted to charge extra for certain consumables not intended to be covered by government funding (eg meals, nappies, events or specialist tuition), but the Sandcastle Nursery does not do so. In order to calculate invoices, the applicable weekly funded hours are distributed over two "Funded Days" for Universal funding and over three "Funded Days" for Extended/30hr Funding. Childcare hours taken in excess of the funded hours are payable by parents. Regulations defining EEF hours as "without monetary value" prevent nurseries from simply crediting clients with the funding received and just charging a "top-up" to the nursery's normal fees. Instead, Sandcastle Nursery charges separate contractual rates for the appropriate sessions detailed on our all inclusive pricelist based on the extra periods required to meet the parents' needs and considering, like any other business, all the costs incurred by the nursery. For additional days, not funded, charges are taken from the daily rate derived from our non-funded pricelist, as shown on our pricelist. Priority for funded places is always given to children already attending the nursery. Please call us if you need any further details. You can also find further information from the Bucks County Council website. and the Government's Best Start in Life website. |
